This two-part documentary explores how the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and his manager Colonel Tom Parker became entangled with the Mob, in a city built on vice and crime.
Elvis Presley was more than just the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll - he was also a pawn in the Mafia’s control over Las Vegas entertainment. His meteoric rise in the 1950s made him a cultural icon, but by the time he became a Vegas headliner, people surrounding him were entangled in a much darker world of organized crime, backroom deals, and manipulation. The Mob, which built and controlled Las Vegas, saw Elvis as both a goldmine and a tool, using his fame to attract high-rollers and launder money through casino empires. At the centre of it all was Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis’s notoriously controlling manager, whose own gambling debts and underworld connections kept Elvis locked into Mob-run venues.
This two-part documentary, using archival footage, FBI files, expert interviews, and high-end graphics explores the intersection of Elvis’s superstardom and the criminal empire of Las Vegas. We reveal how the Mafia profited from the King, how Parker’s deals may have sealed Elvis’s fate, and whether his shocking death was truly as simple as it seemed.
