VOYAGERS: EXPLORING PACIFIC WATERS

4000 years ago, people dare to sail hand built canoes out into the unexplored Pacific Ocean, hoping to find islands to build new lives on.

This is the start of one of the greatest human migrations ever. For thousands of years they voyage, guided by the stars, sea and their ancestors' stories. To overcome brutal natural barriers and treacherous oceans, their canoes and navigation constantly evolve. Risking everything, they cross millions of miles of sea, finding tens of thousands of islands stretching from Hawaii to New Zealand, the Philippines to Rapa Nui. Rich island cultures emerge, connected by canoes, trade and brutal tribal wars. When Europeans enter the Pacific, the voyagers struggle to survive in a changing world.

EPISODE 1
4000 years ago, fearless voyagers sail into the unexplored Pacific Ocean searching for islands to start new lives on. They overcome merciless seas and settle islands from Guam to Vanuatu. Guided by their ancestors' stories, they become master navigators. but after they reach the islands of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga, they struggle to find new islands.

EPISODE 2
1000 years ago, Pacific voyagers set sail. No one has found new land for a millennium, but with ingenious new double-hull canoes they can make long journeys across brutal seas to discover Tahiti. From there, brave voyagers follow the stars, birds and whales to Easter Island, Hawai’i and New Zealand. But when Europeans reach the Pacific, their world will change forever.
