Musician, composer and on-screen personality Gary Barlow is a passionate wine connoisseur whose enthusiasm has taken him all around the world to experience many of the finest wine varieties the world has to offer. Now, Gary is joined by Jason Manford and heading further afield than ever before to a distant but incredibly diverse wine country, New Zealand!
Traversing both the North and South Islands, exploring the glacier lakes, dazzling valleys and fjords, and long sandy beaches, Gary is eating and drinking his way across the country…Seeking out incredible and often sustainable wines, each episode he’ll visit a new region to explore unique cultural practices, meet local wine producers and chefs and pair excellent wine with exquisite food.
EPISODE 1: AUCKLAND AND WAIHEKE
Gary begins in Auckland with chef Ben Bayly, then heads to Waiheke, where Jason Manford makes a spectacular entrance on New Zealand’s ‘wine island’.
EPISODE 2: QUEENSTOWN
Gary and Jason Manford reach Queenstown in their camper van, where jet boats, Pinot Noir and an extreme lakeside sauna give them a true taste of adventure, New Zealand style.
EPISODE 3: CENTRAL OTAGO
Gary and Jason Manford head through Central Otago for Kiwi pies, tramping, a racetrack skid-pan challenge and Gary’s dream visit to Cloudy Bay.
EPISODE 4: BLENHEIM
Gary and Jason Manford board the Coastal Pacific for an epic railway journey, before wobbling through Marlborough wine country on a tandem bike.
EPISODE 5: MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS
Gary and Jason Manford sail the stunning Marlborough Sounds, harvest Greenshell mussels and cross Cook Strait on the Interislander Ferry.
EPISODE 6: HAWKE’S BAY
Gary and Jason Manford end their adventures in Hawke’s Bay, feeding tiny penguins, experiencing an autumn equinox sunrise and raising a final glass at Craggy Range.
