Swamp Kings is a character-led wildlife series following four very different predators - an embattled lion pride, a leopard mother, a wild dog pack and a powerful hyena clan - as they navigate one of the planet’s most dynamic ecosystems through a year of dramatic change and shifting fortunes.
At the heart of the story are our Swamp Kings - the lion pride fighting to hold on to their supremacy, as rivals close in and the balance of power begins to tip.
Each episode unfolds in a different season, bringing a new mix of characters, storylines and challenges as the Delta transforms around them.
EPISODE 1: THE DRY
As drought tightens its grip, lioness Amara introduces her cubs to the Island Pride. But with waterholes shrinking and rivals closing in, keeping them safe becomes a fight for survival.
EPISODE 2: THE RAINS
The rains break the drought, scattering the herds and opening up the swamps. As young lion Tamu and the pride’s adolescents strike out alone, hyena mother Senga must range ever further to feed her cubs.
EPISODE 3: THE FLOOD
Rising waters isolate the Island Pride, buying ageing lion king Kgosikgolo precious time. But leopard mother Naledi is forced to move her growing cubs to higher ground as danger closes in.
EPISODE 4: THE RECEDING WATERS
As the flood retreats, routes reopen, herds return and old enemies meet again. The wild dogs are on the run and aging lion king Kgosikgolo’s reign faces its greatest challenge yet.
