SEASON 1 (TOP GUNS: INSIDE THE RAF)
Home to fast jet fighter bombers and long-range maritime patrol aircraft, Top Guns: Inside the RAF takes us in to the cockpit, flight deck and station HQ as the crews defend Britain’s skies from any threat.
Whether that’s policing NATO airspace in the skies over eastern Europe; patrolling the North Sea hunting suspicious Russian warships or deployed to carry out the fight against Daesh in the Middle East, this series takes us to the frontline and shows what life is really like for the service personnel at the heart of the UK’s defence.
SEASON 2 (TOP GUNS: INSIDE THE RAF)
With unprecedented access to RAF fighter jets, drones and service personnel, Top Guns: Inside the RAF Series Two flies viewers right back onto the frontline.
With tensions rising in Eastern-Europe and the Middle East, the RAF has faced down hostile threats to carry out some of its most audacious missions in decades.
Cameras inside the cockpit bring the audience into the very heart of the battle – from secret spy missions over Syria; precision strikes against terrorists in Yemen, and intercepting Iranian drones threatening Israel.
We follow key characters in the air and on the ground at the RAF’s busiest operational airbases in the UK and abroad, at a time of high stakes and high drama.
SEASON 3 (TOP GUNS: ON THE FRONT LINE W/T)
Top Guns: On the Front Line (w/t) Series 3 once more takes viewers to the frontline as The Royal Airforce flies to protect our skies at home and overseas.
With war still raging in Europe and Russia testing NATO’s defences in the skies and at sea, the RAF is flying relentlessly to combat this threat.
From Typhoon’s intercepting Russian fighter-bombers and intelligence aircraft while stationed in Poland, to hunting submarines in the North Atlantic on the highly classified Poseidon, a state-of-the-art maritime surveillance aircraft.
Tensions also remain high in the middle east, and RAF squadrons based in Cyprus are flying daily missions to protect British and coalition forces against attacks from ISIS terrorists and Houthi rebels.
It’s here that RAF pilots found themselves on the frontline as Iran and Israel traded missiles and were called into action to defend the Royal Navy flagship, HMS Prince of Wales, as it came under fire in the Red Sea from a Houthi attack drone.
Each episode features edge-of-your-seat operational narratives, seen through the pilots’ eyes, as they fly crucial and dangerous missions over the UK, Europe and the middle east.
This series takes us all over the world as RAF personnel prepare to meet every challenge – from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus; NATO airbases in Poland and Romania; on deployment in Norway as the RAF prepare for possible war in the Arctic; and in the USA as pilots pit their skills against America’s own Top Guns.
In the UK we’re at frontline squadrons in Scotland and England, as well as with trainee pilots getting their first taste of a fighter in Wales; Chinook helicopter crew preparing for daring missions and exclusive access to the UK’s Protector drone squadron, flying top secret sorties from their base in the heart of Lincolnshire.
